What was intended to be a small series of documenting Ocean Beach surfers turned into a 10-year project of photographing surfers predominantly at San Francisco's Ocean Beach, but also photographing surfers in Southern California and the UK. Although I'm not a surfer, beach life has always been a part of my life and identity. Multiple aspects shape beach culture, including its landscape, weather, and its people. The objective of this project was to capture a particular aspect of San Francisco's beach culture.
